About myself: I started drawing at the age of four and attended many art classes during my adolescence. My initial visual contact with fine art came as a youngster living in Philadelphia, PA. During mass at the CathedralBasilica of Saints Peter & Paul, I would admire the many paintings/murals that adorned the inside of the cathedral. My subsequent interest in art intensified with frequent visits to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. There, I came into contact with examples of major art movements such as Cubism, Surrealism, and Impressionism. During the late 1980’s, I studied painting and illustration at the Parsons School of Design in New York City. At Parsons, I received painting/drawing lessons from artists such as Johan Sellenraad, Aedwyn Darroll, Anne McCarthy and Charles Viera. In 1992, I attended the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and obtained a BFA in Graphic Design. I currently work as a graphic designer for a publishing company in Boca Raton. The focus of my artwork has always fluctuated between carefully planned paintings and spontaneous abstract/graphic work. I also like to paint on small furniture as a means to explore the challenges that occur when transferring a two dimensional design onto a three dimensional object. In addition to oil/acrylic, I also work in pastels and pen & ink. Even though I can create digital images, I prefer to use traditional painting mediums. There is more enjoyment obtained when I have direct tangible contact with the painting surfaces and mediums. In Oct. 2007, I exhibited 10 paintings in the Schacknow Museum of Fine Arts in Plantation, Florida. I am currently learning painting techniques of the Old Masters from award winning artist Eva Roffe in Miami.
